Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been retained to conduct a search for a Interim Director of Development for our client, a startup financial nonprofit organization committed to aiding individuals experiencing severe poverty globally. This is a very exciting role with a collaborative and passionate team on a fully remote, full-time basis! The duration of this position will likely be needed for approximately 6+ months. This is an ideal opportunity for a proven and values-driven nonprofit fundraising leader with startup experience!


Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Interim Director of Development will be a member of the senior leadership team and will be responsible for providing strategy, planning, and guidance for the comprehensive fundraising efforts and day-to-day management for all development-related programs and execution.


  • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for new fundraising efforts that will expand and diversify the funding base, establishing new partnerships with corporations, private and corporate foundations, and high-wealth donors.
  • Partner with the leadership team to develop familiarity with programmatic needs, capabilities, and priorities and to conceptualize proposals for new initiatives.
  • Enhance the organization’s marketing plan and execute donor communications strategies.
  • Collaborate with leadership on the management of high-capacity donors, including support for meeting preparation and follow up.
  • Represent our partner externally and partner with other teams across the organization to help advance a culture of philanthropy.
  • Encourage a culture of high performance, continuous learning, and commitment to quality by setting and modeling high standards through regular performance feedback, career development opportunities, performance, and development goals.
  • Develop, implement, and manage forward-thinking strategies to raise the annual budget, increase diversity of funding support, and acquire new partners with the capacity to make major annual and multi-year gifts.
  • Design annual development plans with realistic fundraising goals and oversee implementation of strategies to achieve those goals, including personally cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gifts from current and prospective donors.
  • Ensure that customized strategies and timetables for the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of high-level gifts are established for all existing and prospective major donors.

  • A strong alignment to our partner’s mission and values! A belief in the power of utilizing crypto and blockchains for good!
  • Startup financial or tech nonprofit fundraising experience is a huge plus!
  • Extensive experience in fundraising and/or donor relations, including leading a team responsible for securing funding
  • Expertise in donor strategy and best practices, including designing and implementing organization-wide fundraising programs to identify, qualify and engage diverse constituents through to acquisition (major donors, foundations, corporations, and prospects at all levels)
  • Proven track record of creating and implementing a comprehensive development strategy that met or exceeded its objectives for either a region or entire organization
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and high emotional intelligence with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain long-term, productive relationships internally and externally
  • Strong familiarity with philanthropic communities across the United States
  • Experience using technology to streamline work. Prior experience in finance, technology, or economic equity and opportunity a plus

This position offers competitive pay of $90/hr. - $100/hr. DOE, flexible remote hours, as well as health, dental, vision and other benefits after 30 days! This position works on an amazing team and makes an incredible impact on people all around the world!
