Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a HR Associate (Nonprofit) on behalf of our client, an impactful performing arts organization that lifts the voices of artists in Washington DC! This is a full-time, completely on-site, contract to hire opportunity with a strong potential of becoming permanent after 3 months!
OVERVIEW
The HR Associate (Nonprofit) reports to the Human Resources Director and is responsible for the day-to-day Human Resources and Operational functions which include general department administration, recruitment, employee relations, onboarding, benefits administration, and employee engagement.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain the HR Department Calendar, monitoring HR inboxes and responding to general queries distributing action-items to appropriate staff
- Serve as the Assistant Administrator for the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) supporting hiring managers in the recruitment process
- Post and track jobs as requested, communicating with candidates regarding next steps and application material requests
- Draft offer letters and coordinate onboarding which includes conducting new employee orientations
- Gather and upload new hire paperwork to the HRIS securely
- Provide support and outward communication regarding employee benefits
- Administer FMLA and Worker’s Compensation
- Assist with yearly insurance renewal process and Open Enrollment
- Coordinate periodic 403(b) representative visits as well as Employee Wellness Initiatives
- Maintain accurate and complete HR records in the HRIS system providing weekly reports to the leadership team and HR Director
- Audit records as requested to ensure HR compliance, reporting gaps or areas for improvement
- Respond to employment verification requests
- Assist with planning and executing employee recognition events as well as alternative employee engagement activities
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2+ years of experience in Human Resources
- A passion for the performing arts or nonprofit space is preferred
- Working experience with Microsoft Office 365, HRIS systems like ADP, and other related software is required
- Bachelor degree or equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience
- Polished verbal and written communications skills
- Demonstrated organization and time management skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
- Ability lead with discretion and maintain confidentiality
- Act as a determined self-starter who can oversee projects from start to finish
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
This contract opportunity allows you to work with an enthusiastic and thriving nonprofit organization! The hourly rate for this role ranges between $26 - $28 per hour with full-time hours and the potential to convert to permanent employment after 3 short months! There are optional medical, dental, and vision benefits during the contract period and a robust benefits package provided upon conversion! This position is ready for immediate hire!
