Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct an immediate search for an experienced and visionary Executive Director for our client, a prominent environmental organization at the forefront of sustainable practices and climate action! Reporting to the board, the Executive Director will play a pivotal role in fostering environmental sustainability, ensuring a brighter future for our planet. Partnering with communities in the rural regions of Central America, this incredible role leads the strategic direction of initiatives that support growth and expansion of programs, partnerships, and impact. This position is for immediate hire and is 100% remote!

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Direction and Execution
  • Provide visionary leadership to guide the organization’s growth and impact.
  • Develop and execute a strategic plan to advance the organization’s mission and goals.
  • Collaborate with the board and staff to ensure alignment with the organization’s mission and values.
Partnership Development and Growth
  • Build upon the organization’s successful history and expand programmatic initiatives in partnering communities.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance the impact of programs and partnerships.
  • Foster relationships with companies and communities to promote sustainability.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and make necessary adjustments for continuous improvement.
Fundraising and Financial Management
  • Oversee fundraising efforts and explore new funding opportunities to support the mission.
  • Collaborate with the development team to secure funding for the organization’s initiatives and cultivate donor relationships.
  • Ensure fiscal soundness and sustainability by developing and managing the organization’s budget.
Impactful Leadership, Organizational Culture, and Board Partnership
  • Lead a dedicated team, fostering a culture of collaboration, transparency, and innovation.
  • Provide guidance and support to staff, partners, and board members.
Visionary Advocacy
  • Advocate for sustainability and environmental conservation at national and international levels.
  • Represent the organization to stakeholders, partners, and the public.

QUALIFICATIONS:
 
  • Advanced degree in environmental studies, nonprofit management, agriculture, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of relevant nonprofit senior leadership experience. Sustainable agriculture, environmental conservation, sustainable development, environmental practices, international non-profits, or related fields preferred.
  • Experience formulating and executing a strategic vision, driving the organization towards growth, long-term sustainability, and impact.
  • A deep commitment to sustainability and a passion for the organization’s mission.
  • Excellent communication skills with a commitment to transparency and openness, both internally and externally. Fluency in both English and Spanish preferred.
  • 25% domestic and international travel.
