Scion Nonprofit Staffing, an award-winning full-service staffing firm, has been engaged to conduct an immediate search for a hybrid Senior Accountant on behalf of our client, a mission-driven community center in Seattle, WA.

OVERVIEW
We seek a meticulous financial professional with experience handling complex financial transactions, including fund accounting for endowments and foundations. This position requires proper recording, reconciliation, and reporting of financial information according to established accounting principles, tax regulations, and organizational protocols. The successful candidate will exhibit analytical capabilities, precision, and effective collaboration across multiple teams, including donation processing, financial operations, and investment management.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
Financial Transaction Management & Processing

  • Provide oversight for financial processing staff, examining entries for proper coding and guideline adherence.
  • Create or verify accounting entries and contribute to closing procedures.
  • Work jointly with fundraising personnel on contributor documentation and specialized reporting.
  • Interact with financial institutions and revenue teams to handle securities. contributions and maintain precise fund documentation.

Investment & Fund Administration

  • Facilitate award transaction processing and system entry.
  • Perform monthly investment account reconciliations.
  • Process and document contributions, earnings, expenses, market adjustments, and allocations for managed funds.
  • Coordinate with affiliated organizations while maintaining regulatory compliance.
  • Prepare required government filings related to charitable donations and alternative assets.

Accounting Operations & Performance Reporting

  • Review financial institution reconciliations.
  • Monitor capital asset activities and support tax documentation.
  • Develop operational and financial reports, evaluating budget deviations.
  • Administer tracking for deferred expenses, infrastructure assets, and extended obligations.
  • Create periodic financial overviews and metrics for executive and governance review.

Financial Administration & Regulatory Compliance

  • Supervise monetary movements with transaction processing teams.
  • Address payment discrepancies and contributor financial inquiries
  • Complete documentation for insurance and regulatory requirements.
  • Support audit preparation and compliance documentation.

MANAGEMENT SCOPE

  • Supervision of transaction processing personnel.


REQUIREMENTS
Essential:

  • 4+ years' relevant experience in mission-focused or investment accounting.
  • Highly adept and extensively experience with Abila MIP Fund Accounting.
  • Competence with nonprofit accounting systems, SEI, Renaissance, plus Salesforce integration.
  • Proficiency in productivity software and collaboration tools.
  • Familiarity with IRS tax filings for nonprofits.
  • Knowledge of relationship management systems for nonprofits.
  • Understanding of accounting standards, nonprofit reporting requirements, and fund management principles.

Desirable:

  • Background in managing dedicated or donor-directed funds.
  • Experience with specific financial management platforms.
  • Knowledge of nonprofit tax reporting requirements.
  • Previous team leadership experience.

Compensation and Benefits:
This onsite role is based in the greater Seattle area. Our client offers a competitive base salary of $85,000-$95,000 (+) (depending on experience); this incredible role also offers a comprehensive benefits package including 15 vacation days, 5 sick days, nine federal paid holidays, and an additional ~17 paid days off per year. This equates to 46 paid days off yearly (9.2 paid weeks). Medical, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, life insurance coverage, and two retirement plans, a 401(k) and a 403(b).

This role is hybrid - 3 days in office, 2 days remote.
