Scion Technology has been engaged to conduct a search for a Support Desk Specialist on behalf of our client, a well-established technology-focused company based in Hillsboro, Oregon. This is a hybrid opportunity with on-site expectations three days per week.
Position Overview:
The Support Desk Specialist will serve as the first line of technical support within the IT team, providing timely and effective resolution of technical issues across hardware, software, and systems. This entry-to-mid level position is ideal for someone with strong technical aptitude and communication skills who is eager to grow into a Systems Administration role. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, support multiple departments, and gain hands-on experience with enterprise infrastructure, Microsoft 365 administration, and IT project initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide first-level end-user support via phone, email, and in-person interactions
• Troubleshoot hardware including desktops, laptops, printers, and mobile devices
• Support Windows and macOS operating systems and resolve application issues
• Manage support tickets and escalate as needed using an internal ticketing system
• Set up new employee equipment, accounts, and access permissions
• Administer Microsoft 365 accounts, licenses, and configurations
• Support OneDrive, SharePoint, Outlook, and Exchange Online environments
• Maintain accurate documentation of issues and resolutions
• Create and maintain PowerShell scripts for basic automation
• Troubleshoot basic network and connectivity issues
• Assist with compliance and user access management
• Collaborate cross-functionally to support broader IT initiatives
• Participate in IT projects and system implementations as needed
• Adapt quickly to shifting business priorities and urgent support requests
Qualifications:
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 administration
• Knowledge of OneDrive and SharePoint collaboration tools
• Basic PowerShell scripting for automation and system support is recommended
• Proficiency in supporting Windows 10/11 and macOS environments
• Familiarity with hardware troubleshooting for laptops and desktops
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong customer service orientation and professional demeanor
• Analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and shifting priorities
• Eagerness to learn and grow within IT infrastructure roles
Preferred Qualifications:
• 1–3 years of help desk or technical support experience
• Familiarity with ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Zendesk)
• IT certifications a plus (CompTIA A+, Microsoft 365, etc.)
• Basic networking knowledge (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
• Understanding of ITIL Foundation principles
• Experience with Active Directory environments
Compensation:
This position offers an hourly bill rate dependent on experience between $36 - $38 hourly and competitive compensation, $70K - $75K + annually upon conversion to a permanent hire.
