Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Senior Accountant on behalf of a dynamic, mission-driven nonprofit organization that provides community-centered services across New York City. This exciting hybrid opportunity is based in Manhattan, NY, with four days onsite and one remote day each week.
This impactful role offers the chance to support a collaborative finance team and contribute meaningfully to essential grant and financial reporting functions. The Senior Accountant will oversee general ledger activity, budget tracking, invoicing, and audit preparation in close partnership with leadership. This role is ideal for an individual who is proactive, organized, and excited about improving systems in a supportive and inclusive workplace.
$38–$41/hour compensation with contract-to-hire potential

Opportunity to lead financial process improvements and support critical community programs
Maintain general ledger functions, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll allocations using FundEZ and QuickBooks
Generate budget-to-actual reports and assist in audit readiness and compliance documentation
Submit invoices, track reimbursements, and support grant modifications
Supervise bookkeeping workflows and contribute to streamlined financial operations
Collaborate with leadership on special projects and systems improvements
Prepare financial reports to support government contracts and internal planning
Proficiency with nonprofit accounting platforms, especially FundEZ and QuickBooks
Experience managing government grants and contracts (e.g., Medicaid, HUD, city/state funding)
Comfort working with payroll and HR systems, including Paycom
Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines across multiple tasks
Collaborative mindset and readiness to support a small, high-impact team
This contract-to-hire opportunity offers an hourly rate of $38–$41, with a path to direct hire targeting $77,000–$85,000 annually. A laptop will be provided, and the organization supports hybrid work with remote flexibility on Fridays.
