Scion Staffing is partnering with a bookstore in Austin, TX to find an Interim Bookstore Manager. This full-time, onsite role will oversee the day-to-day operations of the store and ensure smooth and efficient management.

As the Bookstore Manager, you’ll be responsible for overseeing all aspects of store operations, including inventory management, customer service, staff training, and sales. You will lead the team in delivering an excellent customer experience, ensuring that every visitor finds what they’re looking for, whether it’s the latest bestseller or a hard-to-find classic. Your leadership will keep the store running smoothly, from managing store finances to maintaining the physical appearance of the store, creating an environment that’s both organized and inviting.

This bookstore is a hub for book lovers, offering a well-curated selection of titles and a welcoming environment. As Bookstore Manager, you'll have the opportunity to shape the store’s culture, ensuring the team works cohesively and efficiently to meet sales goals and customer needs. Responsibilities:
  • Manage daily store operations, including sales, inventory, customer service, and staff scheduling.
  • Lead, train, and motivate the bookstore team to ensure excellent customer service and a positive shopping experience.
  • Oversee stock levels, ordering, and display management to maintain a well-organized and inviting store.
  • Handle cash flow, budgets, and store financials, ensuring profitability and cost efficiency.
  • Foster a positive, team-oriented environment focused on customer engagement and sales goals.
  • Partner with ownership and staff to align store priorities and goals.
  • Support marketing efforts to drive foot traffic and increase sales.
Qualifications:
  • Proven retail management experience, preferably in a bookstore or similar setting.
  • Strong organizational and financial management skills, with experience in budgeting and staff oversight.
  • Ability to lead a team with a hands-on, approachable style, while meeting sales goals.
  • Excellent communication skills and a passion for books and customer service.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
Compensation and Benefits:
This is a full-time, onsite interim role in Austin, TX offering a pay rate of $38-42/hour, depending on experience.  Additionally, medical, dental, vision and voluntary life insurance, an employee assistance plan (EAP), and commuter and transit benefits for those who are working on average 30 or more hours per week. An employee retirement plan is also available!
