Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Grants Financial Analyst for a respected, mission-driven research organization.
This is a fully remote, temporary role supporting a collaborative grants team during a planned leave, with coverage anticipated from mid-February through the summer.


POSITION OVERVIEW

The Grants Financial Analyst will provide post-award financial management support for a diverse portfolio of externally funded research grants. This role partners closely with principal investigators and internal stakeholders to ensure strong financial stewardship, compliance, and timely reporting. The ideal candidate can step in quickly, operate independently, and bring hands-on experience with grants compliance and financial reporting.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage post-award financial administration for a portfolio of research grants

  • Set up grant accounts and budgets, including effort allocations and salary cap considerations

  • Develop PI-level forecasts, financial summaries, and variance analyses

  • Review and approve financial transactions, including personnel actions and requisitions

  • Prepare and submit required financial reports and deliverables (e.g., RPPRs, FFRs, cost reimbursement invoices, journal entries)

  • Review monthly financial reports for compliance and audit readiness and support virtual forecast review meetings


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated experience in post-award grants accounting and financial management

  • Strong working knowledge of federal grants compliance, including Uniform Guidance (CFR 200)

  • Ability to operate independently, prioritize deadlines, and ramp up quickly in a new environment

  • Exceptional attention to detail with strong analytical and time management skills

  • Clear, professional communication skills when working with PIs and internal partners


COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This is a temporary role offering up to $33/hour, depending on experience. Equipment will be provided or candidates may use their own, pending internal confirmation. Background check required.
