Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for an experienced Interim Operations Leader & General Manager for an established and innovative precision manufacturing partner. This is an on-site opportunity based in the Bay City, Michigan area.


POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a dynamic and hands-on interim operations professional to lead and support key areas of manufacturing and plant management. This critical role will focus on stabilizing daily operations, driving performance on the shop floor, and ensuring alignment across production, quality, and maintenance during a leadership transition. The ideal candidate brings a collaborative leadership style and a strong background in machining, fabrication, or industrial operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee and support production operations, engineering coordination, and plant maintenance

  • Ensure production goals are met with a focus on quality, safety, and throughput

  • Identify and drive process improvements using LEAN and continuous improvement methodologies

  • Lead and mentor cross-functional teams to foster accountability and alignment

  • Manage production scheduling, resource allocation, and workflow optimization

  • Ensure compliance with operational procedures and safety standards


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated experience in manufacturing leadership, preferably in machining or industrial environments

  • Strong operational knowledge of CNC equipment, heavy machinery, or large-format fabrication

  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and optimize workflows

  • Familiarity with LEAN manufacturing, process improvement, or TPM practices

  • Comfortable making data-informed decisions to drive operational efficiency


COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

This interim opportunity offers an hourly rate of $80 - $90/hour, based on experience. While benefits are not provided for this interim assignment, all travel and lodging expenses will be covered by the employer for non-local candidates. This is a high-impact consulting engagement for a motivated leader ready to step into a key operational role.
