Scion Technical is seeking an experienced technical search professional to join our dynamic team as the incoming Managing Director, Scion Technical. As a member of our senior leadership team, the Managing Director, Scion Technical will bring a positive, curious, and entrepreneurial mindset to understand our company, mission and values, and the current operations of the Scion Technical Division, and then to create a strategy and plan for the division’s growth and evolution. This position requires a visionary and builder who can review and shape systems, process and structures, recruit and train leaders, and champion an experienced team to accomplish their absolute best. This full-time position is 100% remote and can offer hybrid flexibility via our regional office locations when/if desired. We seek candidates who are presently located within one of the following states: California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Texas, Ohio, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Connecticut, Illinois, Washington DC, or Florida. 
 

The Impact You’ll Make

The Scion Technical Managing Director is responsible for leading the technical division, setting strategic goals and objectives, supervising daily activities, monitoring performance, driving business growth, hiring, and structuring the Division for success. This role will oversee all technical sales and management of our technical team. To carry out this work the Managing Director will guide business operations and employees to achieve organizational goals and objectives while promoting best practices via a servant leadership model. The Managing Director will be the head of the division and work to manage, improve, inspire, and grow the national presence of the Scion Technical business line both in the for-profit and nonprofit arenas.

This newly created role will work closely with executive leadership to develop strong relationships, demonstrate results, and build a scalable Technical Recruiting approach for the technical staffing division of our company. This is a critical position that partners directly with our most senior leaders and talent, and is responsible for delivering technical recruiting results that contribute to our business goals. Well qualified candidates for this role must be passionate about the technical staffing industry and have enthusiasm for supporting socially conscious business practices.

Reporting directly to the CEO, this role will lead a team, including a technical partnerships development manager, and a technical recruiting manager and their team of technical recruiters. Position Objectives

  • Responsible for our Technical Recruiting and Partnerships strategy and delivery across the entire organization, developing a scalable process for technical staffing services, business development, and recruiting across the firm.
  • Lead the strategy, operations, and execution of the Scion Technical division via smart staff hiring, delegation, and empowerment of others.
  • Be a thought partner to and with the executive team to implement company improvements that drive success.
  • Uphold and foster company mission and values in all divisional work.
  • Increase number of client partnerships, job orders, and fill ratio; seize on the incredible revenue potential for division.
  • Create annual goals for divisional growth and an associated work plan/strategy to achieve defined goals.
  • Review, evaluate, create, implement, and improve systems and processes – with positivity and effective change management approaches.
  • Adjust search strategies and processes as needed (variations in process, proposals, engagement letters, etc.) to streamline workflow and support team focus.
  • Design optimal team structure to empower team members and enable advancement.
  • Explore opportunities for automation or more nimble processes to increase efficiency of work; determine the recruiting and sales tools/resources the division requires to attain success and ensure access is provided to division team members.
  • Track and inform team of technical hiring trends, adapt search practices accordingly.
  • Empower, train, mentor, grow and inspire staff, and teach best practices in technical staffing (recruiting and business development).
  • Recruit new team members to bolster the division and support regional and nationwide expansion.
  • Understand and oversee the search process and client service delivery to ensure optimized efficiency.
  • Participate in intake meetings and/or important client meetings to drive team success.
  • Provide recommendations on technical fee structure to ensure optimized revenue.
  • Collaborate with the Partnerships team to ensure opportunities for division synergy are identified and maximized.


Qualifications / Requirements

We seek a seasoned, empathetic, and passionate leader who is builder and executor, and possesses:

  • A passion for the staffing industry and its impact on client organizations’ hiring goals – doing it in a better way! Desire to join an innovative, passionate, committed team!
  • A passion for technology, learning about trends and new innovations, data security, programming, automation, and other areas.
  • 5+ years’ experience in progressive leadership/increasing responsibility as a director or manager.
  • 5+ years’ experience in technical staffing/recruiting industry providing an understanding of recruitment, client relations and account management.
  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience managing, growing, motivating and leading a team while increasing revenue. Demonstrated ability to manage partnerships (sales) and recruitment team members while inspiring best outcomes that are fair, positive, and help the company. Passion for and proven ability to mentor and grow team members’ potential and responsibilities to ensure collective long-term success.
  • Experience managing managers, including coaching, teaching, and guiding up and coming leaders.
  • Understanding of the staffing sales process, business development, and working in partnership with a sales/business development team.
  • Ability to visualize, execute and expand our enterprise client portfolio.
  • Experience tracking data and metrics and using this to inform decision-making, such as new hires, process improvements, automation. Able to think long term/proactively while still addressing urgent and critical matters.
  • Entrepreneurial and collaborative philosophy of doing work. Leading the division and executing its strategy within and in alignment with the vision of the Executive Leadership Team, applying a company first, Division second mentality.
  • A leader who will internalize and embrace our diversity, equity, and inclusion journey and strategic plan, and build that into Scion Technical, ensuring it remains a consistent focus and priority.
  • Existing knowledge of recruiting best practices, human resources, employment law, compensation structures, benefits, diversity (DEI) focused recruiting and business development, sales, and partnerships for technical staffing.
  • Passion for team leadership, system creation, delegation, public speaking, and servant leadership!
  • Exceptional attention to detail and next-level organization skills!
  • Project management skills: the ability to effectively prioritize competing priorities/multi-task.
  • Highly personable- you have a tremendous history of connecting with people and building strong, long-term relationships!
  • Exceptional work ethic, professional drive, and high regard for follow-through/upholding commitments.
  • Exceptional skill in both written and verbal communication! Effective communicator internally with team and across divisions and with executive leadership team. Effective communicator externally; great long-term relationship builder.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and the ability to work effectively through Outlook/email.
  • Experience working with applicant tracking systems (ATS)/customer relationship management (CRM) technology (we use Bullhorn) and LinkedIn Recruiter/online networking resources.
  • Strong desire to succeed; high self-motivation and eagerness to take on new challenges!
  • Travel required (less than 5% annually): two annual team gatherings, Executive Leadership Team summit, conferences, key client meetings, etc.
