Scion Executive Search has been retained to conduct an immediate search for an Interim Director of Operations for our client, a nonprofit organization focused on advancing progressive economic and democratic policies that improve the quality of life for working- and middle-class families. The Interim Director of Operations will provide capacity support to a team of campaigners across fourteen states.

What You Will Be Doing
 
Staff Leadership
  • Mentor Senior Operations Associate who is responsible for grants, contracts, invoices, and budget amendments. Provide coaching as they create training materials and document our processes. Provide coverage for role when on personal time off.
  • Assess systems workflow for processes and recommend and implement new systems as needed.
 
Staff and Personnel Expense Coordination
  • Own staffing and benefits system with oversight from VP. Keep year end and 2023 staffing projections up to date as staff are hired and offboarded.
  • Work with fiscal sponsor to create an individual travel and professional development budget tracking system to track spend down and provide monthly summary reports to key staff.
  • Lead internal communications as they relate to personnel deadlines, including but not limited to timesheet submissions and personal expense reimbursement system requests
 
Budget Management
  • Lead monthly and quarterly budget reconciliation. Work with Senior Operations Associate and fiscal sponsor to process monthly accruals and reconcile inconsistencies in expense tracking and coding.
  • Assist VP with 2023 budget planning process, including working with leadership to assess program needs, resources, and gaps. Compile inputs from state and program budgets for analysis.
  • Help create budget reports and meeting materials for internal audiences and donors.
  • Assess current budget tracking systems and recommend and implement new processes and protocols for our growing team.
 
Grants and Contract Management
  • Create and manage a parallel grant application and reporting system for a new fiscally sponsored fund, developing training for staff.
  • Work with Senior Operations Associate to learn and assess grants, contracts, and invoicing systems audit training materials for updates and edits.

Compensation & Additional Details
This opportunity to assist an amazing organization undergoing a leadership change along with compensation of $52-$60/hr. (depending on experience) in addition to health benefits and sick time.
