Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Senior Accountant for our client, a locally based organization dedicated to providing services and care to local seniors. This is a Full-Time, Direct Hire opportunity located in Lynnwood, WA. This is a Hybrid role with 3 days expected to be onsite.

As the Senior Accountant, you will assist the Finance Director in overseeing finance operations. Your accounting knowledge and your excellent verbal and written communication skills will help you succeed in supporting this organization and its mission!

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensure the financial accounts are formatted and maintained
  • Keep track of all account balances, maintain a general ledger, and prepare procedures for month-end and annual closes
  • Conduct closing procedures for the month and year-end, including recurring entries
  • Support with quarterly Expense Accruals & Deferred Revenue
  • Ensure restriction entries are documented accurately
  • Process Allocations (Building, Office Supplies/Computer Services, Home Repair, Agency Admin)
  • Keep a record of monthly cost allocations in the MIP and maintain cost allocation tables
  • Oversee fixed assets and ensure proper documentation
  • Keep track of the number of in-kind entries each month
  • Help evaluate costs for new & renewed contracts
  • Monitor registrations at the county, state, and city levels.
  • Stay up to date on federal grant information
  • Ensure compliance with requirements of all applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and rules
  • Create and maintain standards, procedures, and tools that enable and promote best practices and consistency across all financial program areas.
  • Examine and maintain the accuracy of the payroll, accounts payable, and receivable cycles.
  • Prepare state and local business tax filings and assure city business license is current
  • Prepare audit schedules, provide requested audit evidence, and finalize financial statements for annual audit
  • Organize and prepare materials for the 990 Tax return and the annual financial audit

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • 3+ years of accounting experience, nonprofit accounting preferred
  • Proficiency in nonprofit accounting software, MIP preferred
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel
  • Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to analyze large amounts of data
  • Ability to think critically and exceptional problem-solving skills
  • Experience with diverse communities is a plus!
  • This position with our client requires employees to report to work at a physical location. COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
This exciting career opportunity allows you to work with a team to make a difference in the community! The salary range for this role is $75,000 - $87,000 annually. You will also receive a comprehensive benefits package that includes Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage, Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance, 401K, PTO and Paid Holidays, EAP and Bereavement Leave.
