Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Junior Accountant for our client, a long running Nonprofit headquartered in New York City and established to maintain a certain worldwide cultural identity and heritage around the world. This is an exciting Full-Time, Direct-Hire, Hybrid opportunity located onsite in New York, NY! You will be working onsite on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday and remotely on Monday and Friday.
As the Junior Accountant, you will report to the Assistant Controller and will bring you accounting expertise and your ability to build positive relationships will help you succeed in supporting this organization and its mission!

As the Junior Accountant, you will report to the Assistant Controller and will bring you accounting expertise and your ability to build positive relationships will help you succeed in supporting this organization and its mission!
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee and keep track of daily deposits
- Ensure invoices are approved according to management standards
- Ensure accurate input of supplier information and is updated in the system
- Review and verify invoices for inconsistencies and research variations as necessary
- Charge and record expenses to accounts and programs by analyzing invoice/expense reports
- Input credit card expense report for payment
- Maintain supporting documentation of the organization’s expenses,
- Prepare cash disbursements- wire transfers, check payments, and scan and save all related documentation
- Perform month-end close duties
- Prepare annual form 1099 returns for independent contractors
- Assist with the supporting documentations and schedules for the external audit
- Assist with monthly, annual, and ad-hoc reporting requirements
- Scan and attach all back-up documentation in accounting system and accounting drive
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- 2+ years of Accountant experience in a Nonprofit
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Working knowledge of Sage/Intacct software a plus!
