Scion Nonprofit has been engaged to conduct a search for an experienced Recruitment and Retention Specialist for an established nonprofit organization in Los Angeles, CA! Our client is engaged in advocating for youth in several California counties! This is a full-time, direct-hire opportunity working a hybrid schedule at the organization’s Monterey Park office.

The ideal Recruitment and Retention Specialist is well-versed in recruiting and retention with a DEI lens.  

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work closely with the Director of DEI and the Human Resources Manager to design and implement effective initiatives and to develop a workflow to promote robust communication between all impacted departments and personnel.
  • Frequently confer with department heads organization-wide as hiring and retention needs arise and proactively identify future needs.
  • With a mind toward increased staff diversity, conduct a thorough review of existing hiring and retention practices, and make recommendations to the Executive Team regarding needed modifications and the development of new procedures and processes.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive plan to expand recruiting efforts, including targeted outreach strategies, building relationships with schools/campuses, including Historically Black Universities and Colleges, and increasing partnerships with a diverse range of organizations to increase awareness of the organization and identify potential talent.
  • Modify language in job descriptions to ensure the centering of DEIB as a core element of our work.
  • Work with the communications team to develop social media strategies to position the organization as a highly attractive employer.
  • Explore and utilize new technologies to support recruitment efforts and align expectations with the new hybrid work model.
  • Work with the Director of DEI to regularly assess organizational demographic data and address identified gaps.
  • Responsible for finding candidates for open positions; reviewing and processing applications; scheduling interviews; and managing all aspects of hiring.
  • Support new hires through the onboarding process.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of 3 years of recruiting or comparable experience
  • Must be based in commuting distance to Los Angeles, California and have the ability to work onsite several days per week
  • Experience in or familiarity with the child welfare system in California is a plus, as is a background in diversity-specific recruiting.
  • Some travel may be required
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
