Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct an immediate search for a Billing Specialist for our client, a San Francisco-based nonprofit organization that provides healthcare for minorities and diverse communities! This is a full-time, onsite, contract opportunity.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensure data accuracy and completeness in the system
  • Utilize the practice management system to code information about procedures/diagnosis and to key charge information
  • Maintain and keep track of non-computer-generated procedures (i.e., labs and x-ray)
  • Conduct coding reviews and assist with coding and error resolution
  • Assist with answering billing related inquires and resolve patient billing complaints
  • Track claim denials and rejections and appeal and correct claims as necessary
  • Monitor reimbursement of payers and identify changes in reimbursement patterns
  • Contact patients and other third-party payers to collect outstanding accounts and report the status of delinquent accounts
  • Ensure documentation is consistent with billing by conducting periodic medical record audits
  • Ensure all claims are submitted and posted by preparing daily reconciliations
  • Monitor the correct payment of claims and capitation deductions
  • Prepare, review, and send patient statements
  • Stay up to date on industry trends and participate in staff meetings and educational activities
  • Adhere to HIPAA guidelines and regulations to maintain a high level of confidentiality
 
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 2+ years of medical billing experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Familiarity with CPT/ICD codes and medical terminology
  • Knowledge of Legacy systems
  • Experience working with diverse populations and a commitment to equity!
  • BA/BS Degree preferred
