POSITION SUMMARY:
Scion Nonprofit Staffing, an award-winning full-service staffing firm, has been engaged to conduct a critical search for a hybrid Senior Accountant for our client, a fast-growing, globally active, private organization that invests in for-profit companies and awards philanthropic grants to mission-aligned organizations in pursuit of the “evolution of consciousness”, bringing millions of people together through love, joy, peace, and freedom.

Under the supervision of the Managing Director and reporting to the Controller, the Senior Accountant will be responsible for all aspects of day-to-day financial accounting, investment operations, and reporting. The ideal candidate will have a sufficient background and knowledge of family office financial and investment accounting and reporting to easily navigate the intersection of complex asset allocation and ownership structures. In addition, the ideal candidate must be able to post entries to the general ledger, ensure the accuracy of the books and records, and understand financial reporting, investment valuation methodologies, and investment performance (return and risk) reporting. Experience working with a variety of systems and the ability to oversee their daily integration and reconciliation is key.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintain general ledger and supporting schedules for family-owned entities, including partnerships and individuals, with investments in public and private securities, funds, direct investments, and digital assets.
  • Record financial, banking, digital asset, and investment transactions in the general ledger, tracking cost, gains, losses, income, expenses, and value of investments for purposes of investment performance reporting and cash flow accounting and reporting across all entities.
  • Prepare and post recurring, non-recurring and adjusting journal entries.
  • Maintain and update general ledger master chart of accounts.
  • Process cash transactions daily to ensure proper account posting, including clearing exceptions between bank and general ledger.
  • Record, reconcile, analyze fees of trading activity of securities held in brokerage accounts, and trading and staking of crypto assets held in multiple digital custody platforms.
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations of bank accounts, asset accounts, and credit cards.
  • Prepare monthly analyses of income and expense accounts.
  • Track and record all inter-entity lending activity and ensure general ledger accurately reflects terms and conditions specified in loan documents.
  • Prepare quarterly analysis and forecast of cash flows and liquidity.
  • Complete month end and year-end closing procedures, including reconciliation of K-1s for all partnerships, produce timely and accurate financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and investment performance reports.
  • Lead the implementation of FundCount, the financial platform used for general ledger, financial, investment, and partnership accounting and reporting.
  • Support annual audits and tax compliance for foreign and domestic entities.
  • Maintain and update accounting files and procedures, including the retention of source documents and correspondence.
  • Perform other relevant functions as required.
  • Identify process improvements to enhance accounting operations' efficiency and effectiveness, including technology & systems improvement recommendations.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must have 7-10 years of investment-related accounting experience.
  • Active CPA, strongly preferred. 
  • Very proficient with technology, including familiarity with accounting software such as MS Dynamics, Sage, Oracle, FIS, Advent, SEI Archway, experience using FundCount a plus.
  • Experienced with the integration of QuickBooks and external data feeds into the General Ledger.
  • A high level of respect and discretion for confidential information.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, deadline oriented with an ability to prioritize work and handle multiple projects and stakeholders, meticulous and detail oriented.
  • Able to adapt to quickly changing requirements and priorities, flexible in taking on routine tasks as well as exhibiting leadership in more complex projects.
  • Willing to grow professionally and acquire new skills.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
This exciting hybrid career opportunity allows you to work with a growing, brilliant, and thriving team! The salary range for this role is $140,000-$150,000 (DOE) and has a comprehensive benefits package that includes Health, Dental, Vision, 401K, 15 days of PTO, 6 sick days, and more!
