Scion Staffing is searching for an Medical Coder to join an impactful healthcare provider in Vancouver, WA! This is a full-time 90-day temp to hire position. Appeals Specialists are required to train onsite for the first 90 days of employment. However, once training is complete and employees are converted to permanent employees, this role will transition to a fully remote!

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
  • Follow up on records related to coding and medical necessity denials in work queues as defined by policies and procedures
  • Review documentation for coding accuracy and make appropriate corrections
  • Research payor policies and guidelines to accurately appeal denials, submit correct claims, adjust charge balances and or transfer the claim balance to the patient
  • Identify patterns and provide feedback to leadership to improve coding and reduce denials
  • Document account activity accurately and promptly during or immediately following each processed encounter
  • Attend training sessions as requested
  • Present unresolved concerns to Supervisor for resolution immediately with related documentation
 
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL
  • Medical billing and collections or coding experience
  • Working knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding and Correct Coding Initiatives (CCI) required
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy required
  • AHIMA (CCA, CCS, CCS-, or RHIT); AAPC (CPC, CPC-A, CPC-H, CPC-H-A, or one of the relevant AAPC specialty-specific coding credentials preferred
  • Knowledge of government, commercial, and third-party insurance contract practices and claims processing procedures preferred
  • Ability to interpret insurance medical policies and procedures
  • Demonstrated understanding of standard insurance reimbursement methodologies
  • Ability to educate providers and others regarding coding, documentation requirements, and other relevant processes preferred

COMPENSATION
This position offers a competitive hourly payrate of $22 - $26/hr. depending on experience as well the ability to work alongside a positive, mission-driven, team-oriented work environment. Please note: Companywide, a high number of Scion Staffing contract placements turn into permanent positions for motivated and professional employees.
