Scion Staffing, Inc. (www.scionstaffing.com), a full-service national staffing firm, has been engaged to conduct an immediate search for a Controller/Sr. Accountant on behalf of our client, a unique national CPG firm, anywhere in the country, preferably southern California. This role is 100% remote anywhere within the United States, with salary and benefits.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the CEO, this role would be a financial individual who has solidified technical skills and is able to work in a fast-paced SAAS environment. This individual needs to be strong in accounting, but also able to work with a cloud-based IMS/accounting system. Our exciting client is looking for someone with physical product B2C experience. Experience with subscription ecommerce and B2B sales is a plus but not necessary. They have a full-time bookkeeper on staff already that will report to the controller. This controller will report directly to the CEO. They have grown into the millions in revenues in 2022 and have sixty employees including in the US and internationally. They are expecting 50-100%+ growth each year moving forward. This role has great potential for advancement and is an opportunity to develop a fantastic team.

PRIMARY DUTIES:
  • Oversight of all accounting daily activities and finance operations.
  • Financial reporting, budget implementation.
  • Tracking and making payments for various groups.
  • Manage a full-time bookkeeper.
  • Using the financial data, manager the accumulation and consolidation necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results.
  • Coordinating and preparing internal and external financial statements.
  • Providing management with information vital to the decision-making process while overseeing statutory reporting requirements.
  • Manage all GL functions: and the plethora of functions that feed into GL.
  • Ensure consistent implementation of corporate accounting principles and procedures in full compliance with US GAAP.
  • Evaluating current accounting and internal control systems and operations, offering recommendations for improvement, and implementing new processes while Identifying inefficiencies and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Tax planning and compliance, overseeing regulatory reporting, frequently including while managing third-party tax providers to ensure accurate and timely tax filings and payments to Federal, State, and Local tax agencies in multiple states.
  • Managing all payments for business-related expenses.
  • Work with Xorosoft to complete the migration and remove manual work in our client’s daily accounting processes.

REQUIREMENTS & SKILLS:

Minimum Skills Sought
  • BS/BA in accounting or business admin (or equivalent work experience)
  • 7+ years’ bookkeeping and accounting experience (or equivalent work experience demonstrating a progression in roles and responsibilities in finance and accounting)
  • Highly tech-savvy with experience in working with SAAS-based ERPs, accounting, and inventory systems.
  • Able to work with the ERPs overseas development team to request functionality and implement new, automated processes (not actual software engineering experience is required – just technical proficiency and the ability to work with the ERP’s engineers).
  • Proficient in communication, technology, analytical, and management skills with basic knowledge of Slack and video calls for communication purposes.
  • Strong communication skills and a possession of the knowledge of all aspects of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Proactive, highly dependable, and self-motivated to solve problems with a positive attitude, comfortable with a high degree of responsibility in ambiguous situations.
  • Adaptable to a fast-changing work environment while able to work well under stress and tight deadlines that may arise.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft programs (Outlook, Excel, Word. etc.)
  • Successful at multi-tasking, organization, and time management.
  • Ability to think strategically across long time frames with a BIG picture mentality.
  • Understanding of basic tax prep, including filing taxes in multiple states
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a small business or startup, a quick turn-around environment, in AirTable + Trello. managing a finance department or employees.
  • Experience with Xorosoft.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
