Our client is actively seeking an accomplished Director of Finance to oversee the financial operations of this dynamic institution, driving its mission forward with integrity, innovation, and strategic vision.

Joining the Executive Team, this pivotal role entails overseeing the organization's financial activities critical to advancing its mission. Responsibilities include developing, managing, and stewarding funds to support our core objectives. Key duties encompass providing financial oversight, conducting forecasting, and ensuring the efficient management of financial affairs. The organization's success hinges on robust branding, fostering donor trust, garnering support, maintaining confidentiality, and effective communication. The position requires creativity, innovation, and close collaboration with diverse stakeholders to drive the mission forward.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Supervise Accounting/Finance Specialists, Receivables/Payable Manager, Budgeting, Finance, Investments, and Loan Management.
  • Lead financial aspects for administrative staff supporting ministries, including the School.
  • Monitor and control spending, ensuring transactions are auditable.
  • Uphold internal control standards and communicate them to staff, ensuring accountability.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records for the church and school, adhering to GAAP and non-profit accounting principles.
  • Coordinate and prepare organization & school budgets, oversee spending, and report to senior leadership.
  • Provide financial updates and insights to the Board quarterly.
  • Act as staff representative to senior leaders, facilitating accurate financial communication.
  • Oversee purchasing decisions, emphasizing cost-effectiveness and competitive analysis.
  • Stay informed of financial trends and industry changes.
  • Research, evaluate, and approve financial commitments and contracts.
  • Implement strong internal controls and oversee annual audits by an outside CPA firm.
  • Analyze investment accounts and insurance needs regularly.
  • Develop a long-term strategy for the success of the organization.
  • Track and report overall giving records to stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and technical regulations, including IRS and Department of Labor.
  • Collaborate with the Superintendent on annual budget and financial transactions, prioritizing unity between divisions.
  • Lead and train business office staff, establish goals, and evaluate progress.
  • Collaborate with committees, officers, and leaders on organizational business affairs.
  • Attend staff meetings and retreats and perform additional duties as needed.
  • Contribute to the development of the Vision, Mission, and Values Statement.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Possession of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field; preference for candidates with a Master’s degree.
  • 10 years of experience in Accounting/Finance.
  • Minimum of 5 years in management/supervisory positions.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensure. 
  • Experience working with non-profit organizations preferred. 
  • Proficient in high-level analytic skills and effective communication.
  • Proven leadership capabilities, including strategic planning and team development.
  • Previous experience overseeing financial data integrity, reporting, and audits.
  • Ability to articulate financial concepts and collaborate across diverse teams.
  • Technologically proficient with software selection and vendor management.
  • Demonstrated success in setting and executing strategic priorities.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with stakeholders.
  • Capacity to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Personal attributes include integrity, credibility, and dedication to excellence.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The Director of Development role offers a competitive salary range of $80,000 to $100,000, depending on experience. The position includes a comprehensive benefits package covering Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance, along with 401k options and a 401k match to support retirement planning. Additionally, employees will have access to Short-Term Disability coverage, Life Insurance, an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), and a gym discount.
