Scion Nonprofit has been engaged to conduct an immediate search for an experienced Associate Executive Director for our client, an inspirational social services agency that provides restoration, fairness, and completeness to individuals and communities. They deliver essential services annually to residents of Illinois, encompassing foster care, mental health support, addiction treatment, affordable housing for seniors, residential programs aiding individuals with developmental disabilities, senior home care, and assistance for families affected by incarceration. 

The ideal individual for this role will have an extensive background in child welfare programs and social services with experience developing and managing nonprofit programs. The person selected for this role will also be a skillful leader with excellent team leadership capabilities. This incredible full-time, hybrid opportunity is based in Chicago, Illinois and is a fantastic opportunity to lead programmatic efforts to direct a sophisticated child welfare program with multiple sites. 

POSITION SUMMARY: 
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Associate Executive Director is responsible for managing all of the program’s operations, including developing a regional budget, implementing new programs, partnering with local agencies, and collaborating with a senior leadership team.  

RESPONSIBILITIES:  
  • Administer and continuously optimize a regional child welfare program with multiple sites.  
  • Collaborate with senior management team.  
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and operations of new programs throughout the region. 
  • Develop and manage regional budget.  
  • Partner with local public and private agencies to improve and advance program operations.  
  • Lead a team of highly talented and passionate child welfare professionals.  

QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • Master’s Degree in Social Work or a related field (DCFS/COA accepted degrees) 
  • 3+ years of program management experience, including staff leadership.  
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.  
  • LCSW credential is required.  
  • Proven experience within the field of child welfare, social services, or a related field.  
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. 
  • Knowledge of compliance regulations and documentation. 
  • Ability to work well independently and collaboratively.  

COMPENSATION: 
This role offers an annual salary of $85,000 to $95,000 dependent on experience, plus a wonderful benefits package, including 10 paid holidays, paid time off (PTO) which begins accruing on the first day of employment, a 403(b) plan, and medical, dental, vision, and life insurance! This organization also offers paid continuing education credits (CEUs), a hybrid work environment, flexible work schedules, and an employee assistance program (EAP)!
