Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct an immediate search for a part-time Director of Development on behalf of our client, an organization whose mission is to maximize the value of open and shared data for the public good, with an emphasis on climate action, based in Washington D.C. This is an exciting contract opportunity to join an inspiring and mission-driven team!  

Overview:
The ideal candidate will be dedicated to advancing the mission of utilizing data to combat climate change through strategic fundraising efforts and cultivating meaningful relationships with donors and partners.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies to support the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Cultivate and steward relationships with donors, prospects, partners, and other key stakeholders to maximize support for the organization.
  • Identify new funding opportunities and partnerships to diversify revenue streams and enhance sustainability.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align fundraising goals with organizational priorities and strategic initiatives.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of fundraising events, campaigns, and initiatives to engage supporters and raise awareness.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of fundraising activities, results, and impact to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Stay informed about trends and best practices in fundraising and philanthropy to continually improve strategies and approaches.

Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience in development/fundraising roles.
  • Deep understanding of climate change issues and a passion for advancing climate action solutions.
  • Proven track record of successfully securing diverse revenue sources and overseeing various development strategies.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, enabling the cultivation and advancement of relationships with a diverse community, including donors, prospects, colleagues, volunteers, partners, and community members.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying ideas with enthusiasm to diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in data management, including expertise in handling all types and designations of giving.
  • Familiarity with fundraising software and exceptional organizational skills.
  • Commitment to the organization's mission and values.

Compensation and Benefits:
This exciting opportunity is offering an hourly rate of $68-79.50/hr. with optional healthcare benefits after 30 days!
