Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Human Resources Officer for immediate hire for our client, a wonderful Nonprofit organization that aids the underserved population around the country! This is an exciting Full-Time, Direct-Hire opportunity located onsite in Washington, DC!  

As the Human Resources Officer, you will report to the Executive Director and support the executive leadership team with key human resource functions. You will oversee recruitment, employee development, and additional responsibilities, ensuring the delivery of high-quality human resources services and promoting effective communication within the organization!

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assess recruiting needs by reviewing organizational plans and objectives and engaging in discussions with hiring managers
  • Establish and monitor objectives for the recruitment and hiring process
  • Maintain the structure of the HRIS system's applicant tracking module and conduct training based on site-specific requirements
  • Oversee all recruitment aspects, including job posting, applicant screening, interview scheduling, reference validation, and onboarding
  • Evaluate applicants by consulting with managers about job requirements and applicant qualifications, conducting interviews based on consistent criteria
  • Assess the effectiveness of different recruitment sources and emphasize benefits and perks during the job offer and compensation negotiation stage
  • Conduct reference checks as part of the background screening process
  • Track employee terminations to identify potential adjustments in recruitment strategies
  • Plan, organize, and execute various formal and informal training activities using both internal and external resources, ensuring inclusivity of various learning styles
  • Periodically assess ongoing programs to incorporate necessary changes
  • Conduct follow-up assessments of training effectiveness and make adjustments as needed
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality, proactive HR services and processes aligning with strategic business goals and critical initiatives at the designated site location
  • Implement organizational development interventions, including organizational design and leadership transitions (succession planning)
  • Foster effective communication with site management teams and employees to enhance productivity and engagement by providing guidance, coaching, and feedback on matters related to employee relations and performance management
  • Collaborate with the site executive team and the National Office HR team to identify and address employee relations issues promptly
  • Research, develop, and implement competitive compensation, benefits, and employee incentive programs in the designated region under National Office guidance
  • Assist payroll with benefit premium reimbursement for employees on leave of absence
  • Oversee the site's annual performance appraisal process in coordination with the National Office

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 8+ years of Human Resources experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources
  • Knowledge of federal and state human resources compliance and laws
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite
  • Proficiency with Paycom is a plus!
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to think strategically and problem-solve independently as well as build relationships

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
This exciting career opportunity allows you to work with a brilliant and thriving team! The compensation for this role is $70,000 - $82,000 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package that includes Medical Insurance, Dental Insurance, a 401K Plan, a Flexible Spending Account, Paid Holidays, Paid Time Off, and Sick Leave. Parking is also available onsite!
