Scion Nonprofit is excited to share that we are partnering with one of the most innovative global nonprofits to identify its next Managing Director of Development (MDD). In this pivotal role, the MDD will report directly to the CEO and be an integral part of the senior leadership team. The MDD will be a globally minded and entrepreneurial leader passionate about changing societal inequities. This impactful opportunity comes with a flexible hybrid schedule domiciled in Midtown Manhattan. The salary is $180,000-$220,000 DOE, in addition to a very generous benefits package.

THE ROLE:
As the MDD, you'll spearhead an exciting fundraising strategy for their international programs. Working closely with the CEO, you'll craft and execute a comprehensive plan targeting diverse donor segments, with a focus on international funders and high-net-worth individuals. Lead their passionate, development team, shape the department as well as future fundraising endeavors, and represent the organization in key meetings and collaborations. You’ll expand their support network and drive fundraising excellence to fuel impactful societal initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Fundraising:
  • Develop and implement a dynamic multi-year fundraising strategy aligned with organizational goals.
  • Identify and cultivate new high net-worth individual donors at the $50-100K major donor level.
  • Establish robust partnerships with corporations, foundations, and potential allies to secure grant funding.
  • Develop major donor and planned giving initiatives and rejuvenate fundraising events and campaigns.
  • Collaborate on annual philanthropic events to optimize cultivation opportunities.
  • Ensure robust policies, practices, and systems for managing funders and compliance.

Organizational Strategy and Leadership:
  • Manage and cultivate a team of high-performing contributors.
  • Contribute to setting strategic direction as a member of the Leadership Team.
  • Establish objectives, champion fundraising priorities, and refine development campaign strategies and communication.
  • Promote a culture of philanthropy across all levels of the organization, including staff and the Board.
  • Utilize knowledge of the philanthropic community to enhance international development efforts.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 10+ years of nonprofit experience spearheading national, preferably global, fundraising initiatives.  
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Accomplished leadership and organizational skills, with a successful track record of cultivating new donors and enhancing development initiatives.
  • Proven success in securing multi-million-dollar grants for international initiatives.
  • Deep knowledge of the philanthropic community in international development.
  • Proficient in strategic planning, budgeting, and collaborating closely with the Board of Directors.Experience collaborating with CEO and Board leadership to manage major donor relationships. 
  • High EQ with excellent communication skills.
  • Skilled in navigating organizational and cultural variances, adept at bridging geographical gaps effortlessly.
  • Travel is not guaranteed but likely both domestically and internationally up to 20%.

HIGHLY PREFERRED:
  • MS Dynamics CRM proficiency.
  • Multilingual.
  • Advanced degree.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
This highly rewarding opportunity comes with a competitive base salary of $180,000-$220,000 DOE, a generous benefits package, including health, dental, vision, and life insurance; short-term and long-term disability insurance.
