Employment Type Retained
Scion Executive Search (SES) has been retained to conduct a search for an Executive Director on behalf of our amazing client, 232-HELP, an information and referral nonprofit agency that exists to help and empower those in crisis return to a healthy and productive lifestyle in the community by connecting them with the appropriate resources. Located in Lafayette, Louisiana, this full-time, hybrid position is the perfect opportunity for a compassionate and forward-thinking professional interested in making an impact within a historic organization!

ABOUT 232-HELP:
232-HELP, also known as Louisiana 211, is a single destination agency providing information, education, and referral services. Founded in 1965 by the late Jewell Lowe and her husband Bob Lowe, the organization was originally known as the Southwest Education and Referral Center (SLERC) established to fill a gap in available and accessible government and social programs. Over the last 50 years, 232-HELP is a designated 211 service center that has paved the way for countless programs that serve those in need with a coverage area that serves 10 parishes — Acadia, Avoyelles, Evangeline, Iberia, Lafayette, St. Landry, St. Martin, St. Mary, Terrebonne, and Vermilion.

The organization was rebranded to 232-HELP as it’s the direct number (337.232.4357) individuals can use to access their services. Trained specialists receive around 2,000 calls a month where they connect referrals to the proper community and social services. Other programs and services include rendering, when possible, direct services in the absence of any other agency, individual or organized service capable of responding to a particular request for help; collaborating and networking with other community service organizations within the 232-HELP / Louisiana 211 geographic boundaries as well as other Louisiana 211 providers; educating the public on matters related to health and social problems; identifying gaps in community services and incubating new programs where needed; and engaging in realistic long-range planning to ensure the delivery of their mission.
