Scion Executive Search has been retained to identify the incoming Executive Communications Manager on behalf of our client, Global Refuge, one of the nation’s leading faith-based nonprofits dedicated to helping restore a sense of home to immigrants, asylum seekers, and refugees. Reporting directly to the Chief Communications Officer (CCO), this full-time, remote opportunity is available for immediate hire!

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Executive Communications Manager is the CEO's key communications partner, helping leverage the CEO's voice and vision to raise the organization's brand awareness and advance its strategic objectives. Reporting to the Chief Communications Officer, this role serves as publicist for the CEO and will create and execute a multi-channel executive thought leadership strategy focusing on national events and feature media opportunities. As needs and opportunities arise, the Executive Communications Manager will also work closely with the C-suite team. This role collaborates with communications colleagues to ensure that executive messages and content are aligned with broader communications strategies and media plans.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop and execute strategic communications plans for the CEO, driving brand awareness and advancing critical objectives with the CCO and Director of PR.
  • Leverage existing relationships to arrange national-level engagements that help the CEO and the organization reach new audiences and demonstrate thought leadership around immigration and refugee issues.
  • Build new relationships with key national and Baltimore events to help continue to reach new audiences.
  • Oversee CEO social media accounts to ensure strong, creative, and positive visibility.
  • Refine talking points, speeches, and presentations for internal and external events in close coordination with the speechwriter.
  • Expand earned media pitching to land stories and features on issues cross-cutting the immigration and refugee space, including climate change and the economy.
  • As the team grows, take on a leadership role in mentoring and coaching.
  • Other duties, as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 5+ years of experience as a publicist for high-profile C-suite executives who operate in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven track record of securing national media placements and thought leadership opportunities.
  • Deep passion for immigration and refugee issues, with the ability to translate complex topics for broad audiences.
  • A minimum of 1 year of prior staff management experience is required.
  • Ability to pitch CEO for events that reach new audiences that align with strategic objectives, including donor communities, affiliated organizations, and religious organizations.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and public speaking skills.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment and demonstrates excellent time management.
  • Willingness to work outside regular working hours during emergencies or other breaking news.
  • Use an entrepreneurial and creative spirit to identify new thought leadership opportunities for the CEO and other leaders.
  • Able to work collaboratively across the organization.
  • Commitment to Global Refuge’s core mission and values and an ability to model those values in relationships with colleagues and partners.
  • Up to 10% travel is required.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
In addition to a competitive base salary of $145,000 to $150,000, Global Refuge also provides exceptional benefits that include medical, dental, vision, professional development, tuition reimbursement, generous paid time off, including 20 days of vacation, 12 days of sick time, 12 paid holidays, 12 weeks of fully paid parental leave and up to 12 weeks of fully paid FMLA leave, as well as a 403(b) plan with 3% employer contribution match and an additional 7% match which vests immediately, family building benefits for reproductive procedures, adoption/foster care assistance, and an annual wellness benefits that can be customized to support your personal needs including funding enrichment classes, gym memberships, healthy eating plans, and more!
