Scion Nonprofit Staffing is seeking a talented Communications Manager for a prestigious nonprofit organization and leading think tank based in Washington, DC.

As the Communications Manager, you'll be instrumental in amplifying the organization's impact by disseminating and promoting its work. This role presents an exciting chance to further develop skills in public policy and strategic communications.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the communications team and policy analysts to execute a communications program targeting policymakers
  • Drive media coverage through various channels, including research reports and op-eds
  • Draft and schedule social media posts across multiple platforms
  • Assist in promoting and executing public events and webinars
  • Track media coverage and communications metrics, providing regular reports to staff and the board
  • Copyedit and proofread communications materials

Qualifications
  • Strong Writing and Communication Skills: Ability to effectively convey complex policy issues to diverse audiences.
  • Media Relations Expertise: Experience in pitching stories to journalists and securing media coverage.
  • Strategic Communication Abilities: Demonstrated strategic thinking in developing communication strategies aligned with organizational goals.
  • Experience in communications, preferably in media relations or public policy
  • Strong writing and copyediting skills
  • Familiarity with public policy and keen interest in technology and innovation issues
  • Understanding of digital communications, including website content management
  • Practical experience using social media to raise organizational profile and engage in public issues
  • Personable and collaborative team player with exceptional organizational habits and ability to handle multiple projects
  • Visual storytelling experience, such as producing video animations, is a plus

Compensation
This opportunity offers a starting annual salary of $80,000 plus full benefits including medical, dental, vision, FSA, retirement, generous paid vacation, annual performance-based bonus, public transportation benefit and more!
