Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for an experienced Accountant for a nonprofit advocacy group aiming to advance democratic values for their community within the US and worldwide based in New York, NY! This is a wonderful full-time, hybrid, direct-hire opportunity with a dedicated, mission-driven team!
 
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Collaborate with the Finance Manager to prepare budget reports for selected programmatic and support departments.
  • Provide monthly financial reports, conduct variance analysis, and engage in continuous dialogue with department heads, acting as a financial partner.
  • Assist in the annual preparation of departmental budgets.
  • Communicate with custodians, fund managers, and consultants regarding the organization’s investments, including rebalancing efforts directed by the Investment Committee.
  • Perform monthly investment reconciliation and roll-forward procedures for the Endowment and Retirement Plan.
  • Prepare monthly adjustments to record the organization’s endowment distribution and changes in fair market value.
  • Aid in recording transactions related to Concur, International offices, and other investments.
  • Assist in reconciling balance sheet accounts during monthly financial closing processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum 3+ year’s work experience in corporate accounting or nonprofit finance department
  • Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), non-profit GAAP knowledge a plus
  • Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including the ability to work with Pivot Tables and V Lookups.
  • Exhibit strong problem-solving skills to address complex financial challenges effectively.
  • Display exceptional organizational skills with a keen eye for meeting deadlines and maintaining attention to detail.
  • Capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.
  • Maintain a positive and energetic attitude towards work and a commitment to the organization's mission.
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills to facilitate effective interactions with colleagues and stakeholders.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
