Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Development Manager (Major Gifts and Grants) on behalf of our client, an established, inspiring nonprofit organization that advocates for responsible parenthood to improve long-term outcomes for children! This is a wonderful, full-time, hybrid, direct-hire opportunity in Charleston County, SC with a dynamic, mission-driven team contributing to the improvement child welfare!

The Development Manager (Major Gifts and Grants) will work closely with senior leadership to cultivate relationships with high-net-worth donors to solidify major gift commitments, develop innovative fundraising strategies, and compose successful grant proposals.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning & Growth:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive annual fundraising plan securing diverse funding streams.
  • Broaden fundraising reach through new approaches like planned giving and endowment programs.
  • Identify and secure funding opportunities from corporations, foundations, and individual donors.
  • Analyze trends and best practices in the nonprofit sector to optimize fundraising strategies.
Grant Management:
  • Collaborate with the CEO on researching and writing compelling grant proposals and reports.
Donor Relations & Cultivation:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with major donors across all categories.
  • Create and execute strategies for donor acquisition, cultivation, and stewardship.
  • Develop and manage major gifts, planned giving, and volunteer giving programs.
  • Oversee the creation of donor-facing materials like appeal letters and collateral.
Data Management & Reporting:
  • Implement and manage all aspects of donor communications via direct mail and other channels.
  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date donor information within the CRM system.
  • Generate monthly reports to track progress toward fundraising goals.
  • Provide regular updates to the CEO and board on fundraising performance.

Requirements:
  • Demonstrated experience in nonprofit development specifically managing a variety of major giving and grant programs
  • Managerial experience in leading, training, and mentoring volunteer programs
  • Desire to be a part of an organization dedicated to advocating responsible parenthood initiatives
  • Success soliciting and securing major gifts with a proven knowledge of nonprofit fundraising best practices
  • Ability to identify and secure grants from public and/or private funders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM database systems such as Raiser’s Edge.
  • Strategic thinking as well as analytical skills with the ability to oversee multiple projects at once.
  • Advanced verbal, written, and public communications.
  • Bachelors Degree preferred.

Compensation:
