Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Senior Mechanical Engineer on behalf of our client, an established national industrial construction firm based in Portland, OR! This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on-site in a collaborative and engaging environment.

Position Overview: The Senior Engineer will be responsible for all engineering design deliverables of assigned projects, including technical leadership, project management, and detailed mechanical design work, for all new and existing projects that require process facility development. Utilizing exceptional technical and project management skills, the Senior Mechanical Engineer will develop, empower, and engage teams to solve meaningful problems and develop innovative solutions that drive customer value.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and modify P&IDs and design plant and equipment configurations in collaboration with other disciplines and customer directives.
  • Prepare and modify construction specifications for all mechanical and associated equipment.
  • Interpret design requirements and provide innovative engineering solutions that incorporate safety, cost-effectiveness, and serviceability concepts.
  • Perform load calculations using industry-standard software.
  • Interpret and provide technical expertise on various codes governing design and plant operations, including but not limited to SMACNA, ASHRAE, OSHA, ICC, and NFPA.
  • Conduct field verifications and prepare technical narratives related to the scope of work and operational specifications.
  • Provide management and other project stakeholders with information regarding project status and potential design conflicts.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineering staff.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from an ABET accredited college or university.
  • Previous Mechanical Engineering experience.
  • Professional Engineering license with the ability to gain reciprocate licenses in other states.
  • Proficiency in design and calculation software.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and accompanying policies and procedures.
  • Exceptional team skills with the ability to communicate up as well as across the organization.
Compensation:
This opportunity offers an annual salary from $100,000 - $125,000 depending on experience, as well as a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401K and more!
