Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been retained to conduct a search for a Grants Manager for our client, a foundation focused on uplifting and supporting the Jewish Community. This is a part-time (24 hours per week) long term contract position located onsite in Los Angeles, CA
 
Responsibilities: 
  • Direct and oversee the Grants Management Associate and/or Temporary Staff in processing standard grant recommendations from submission to disbursement. This includes managing grants through their life cycle (from request to close), creating and modifying database records, tracking workflow, and preparing grant backup and correspondence. 
  • Manage nonstandard grant requests and address anomalies related to grantmaking. Handle certain high-level and sensitive grants. 
  • Ensure grant requests comply with current IRS charitable giving guidelines and specific Foundation practices. 
  • Review grant check proof reports, grant checks, and award letters for accuracy. 
  • Ensure Grants Management Associates and other relevant staff receive proper training. 
  • Serve as a key contact for donor and grantee relations, providing technical assistance and grantmaking support. 
  • Assist in implementing and maintaining new grants management and donor portal software; manage software to meet requirements and ensure data integrity. 
  • Gather information and make recommendations for improving grantmaking processes, including identifying issues and implementing approved changes. 
  • Handle confidential information with complete discretion. 
  • Provide superior customer service to donors. 
  • Maintain positive, respectful, and collaborative relationships with peers and management. 
  • Manage special projects and other duties as assigned. 
Qualifications: 
  • Experience in a grants management role, working with an online grants system, and a solid understanding of Donor Advised Funds. 
  • Strong organizational skills with high accuracy and attention to detail. 
  • Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple demands within set deadlines. 
  • Proficiency with the internet and strong computer skills, including mastery of the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). 
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to compose effective and thoughtful correspondence. 
  • Ability to maintain and respect sensitive, private, and confidential information related to grant recommendations, grantees, donors, and advisors
  • Excellent customer service skills for both internal and external interactions. 
  • Ability to work both under supervision, in a team environment, and independently. 
 
Compensation:
This position offers competitive pay of $48/hr., as well as health, dental, vision and other benefits while on assignment.
