Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct an immediate search for an experienced Interim Chief Financial Officer for our wonderful nonprofit partner, committed to enhancing the health and wellness of underserved populations in Oakland, California!
This incredible role works closely with the President and oversees financial planning, management, and reporting to ensure fiscal health and compliance while supporting the organization's mission and strategic goals! As the organization prepares to spin out from its parent organization and transition to an independent 501(c)(3), the Interim CFO will play a crucial role in ensuring seamless financial operations and readiness. This interim position is for immediate hire and works a part-time remote schedule (with candidates local to the Bay Area preferred).
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reconcile all accounts to ensure accurate financial reporting during the spin-out process.
- Ensure financial reports are in good shape and compliant with standards before the transition to independence.
- Plan for the financial processes and procedures that the organization will use post-spin-out as an independent 501(c)(3).
- Develop a comprehensive roadmap for financial operations post-transition.
- Identify staffing and management options for financial systems once independent.
- Evaluate and recommend solutions for effective financial system management in the new independent structure.
- Support and mentor current finance-related staff in completing key deliverables over the remainder of the year.
- Assist in preparing finance-related materials for quarterly Board of Directors meetings.
- Produce updated financial reports for current programs and ensure accuracy during the spin-out.
- Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner.
- Proactively maintain a strong financial controls environment, ensuring compliance with regulations, legal requirements, and policies during and after the spin-out.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Extensive experience in financial management and reporting.
- Experience with Netsuite or similar financial software preferred.
- Proficiency in financial reconciliation, reporting, and planning processes.
- Ability to communicate financial information clearly and effectively.
- Willingness to collaborate and be a team player.
- Comfort with ambiguity and ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
In addition to a competitive hourly rate of $76-89/hr., this role provides medical, dental, vision, and voluntary life insurance, an employee assistance plan (EAP), and commuter and transit benefits for those who are working on average 30 or more hours per week.
