Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged in conducting an immediate search for an experienced HR Consultant for our partner, a wonderful nonprofit organization!

This vital role works closely with the leadership team to develop and implement strategic HR initiatives, focusing on engaging staff, understanding their roles, and effectively communicating changes. As a start-up community nonprofit, the organization is dedicated to fostering a positive work environment and supporting its mission. The HR Consultant will play a crucial role in change management and the creation of job descriptions.


This interim position is for immediate hire, with a preference for onsite candidates based in the Harlem, NY area! Remote candidates are also welcome to apply!

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Change Management:
    • Lead and manage change management initiatives to ensure smooth transitions and staff engagement.
    • Develop and implement strategies to effectively communicate changes to all staff members.
  • Staff Engagement:
    • Engage with staff to understand and clearly document their roles, their day to day and strategic responsibilities, and concerns.
    • Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that promotes staff well-being and productivity.
    • Manage employee relations, handle conflicts, and provide mediation when necessary.
    • Foster a positive employee relations environment through effective communication and problem-solving.
    • Create a detailed outline/manual/report of the specific day to day work-flows / ongoing activities of each staff member and consultant.
  • Job Description Creation:
    • Develop and refine job descriptions for all positions within the organization.
    • Ensure job descriptions accurately reflect the roles and responsibilities of each position.
  • Strategic HR Initiatives:
    • Develop and implement strategic HR initiatives to support the organization’s goals and objectives.
    • Work closely with the leadership team to align HR strategies with organizational priorities.
    • Create/Design clear detailed plan / strategy / manual for leadership on existing and recommended long term HR policies, staffing activities, staffing needs and existing / long-term day to day activities required for the organization in the short, medium and long-term.
  • Hands-On HR Management:
    • Provide hands-on HR support and management, addressing staff needs and resolving HR issues.
    • Develop and implement HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance and best practices.
    • Be independent resource directly for staff.
  • Communication:
    • Navigate and manage effective communication channels within the organization.
    • Ensure clear and consistent communication of HR policies, procedures, and changes to all staff members.
  • Staff Support and Development:
    • Provide support and guidance to staff on HR-related matters.
    • Develop and implement staff development and training programs to enhance skills and performance.
  • Employee Morale and Retention:
    • Develop and implement strategies to maintain and improve employee morale during the transition.
    • Identify key talent and create retention plans to ensure stability within the organization.
  • Cultural Assessment and Improvement:
    • Conduct a cultural assessment to identify areas of concern and opportunities for improvement.
    • Develop initiatives to strengthen organizational culture and align it with the organization's mission and values.
  • Other Duties as Assigned:
    • Take on additional tasks as needed to support the organization’s goals and HR operations.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • HR Experience:
    • Extensive experience in HR management, with a strong preference for candidates with a background in nonprofit organizations.
  • Change Management Expertise:
    • Proven experience in leading and managing change management initiatives within an organization.
  • People Person:
    • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and connect with staff at all levels.
  • Strategic Thinker:
    • Ability to think strategically while being detail-oriented and focused on execution.
  • Hands-On Approach:
    • Demonstrated ability to be hands-on and manage HR activities effectively.
  • Adaptability:
    • Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with the flexibility to adapt to changing needs.


COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
This career opportunity provides a starting hourly pay of $58.00 to $65.00 DOE with room for further career growth over time, plus medical, dental, vision, and voluntary life insurance, an employee assistance plan (EAP), and commuter and transit benefits for those who are working on average 30 or more hours per week. An employee retirement plan is also available!
