Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct a high-priority search for a Bookkeeper on behalf of our client, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering communities through education. This is an exciting direct-hire, onsite position in Seattle, Washington.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage all aspects of accounts payable and assist with accounts receivable.
  • Handle cash receipts and disbursements.
  • Regularly collaborate with Facilities, Development, and Extended Day departments, as well as division heads, to reconcile monthly financial activity.
  • Serve as a point of contact for other departments within the school as needed.
  • Maintain and reconcile all general ledger accounts monthly.
  • Oversee accounting functions through to the preparation of monthly financial statements.
  • Provide monthly budget-to-actual reports for specific accounts.
  • Manage all payroll functions, including reviewing tax returns, reports, and W-2s generated by the payroll processing company (ADP) to ensure accuracy.
  • Prepare reports for the CFO to be reviewed by various agencies and organizations on a monthly, quarterly, or as-needed basis.
  • Prepare schedules for the annual financial audit and provide additional support for audits as required.

Qualifications:
  • Comprehensive knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles and practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and assignments simultaneously, prioritizing tasks effectively.
  • Strong team player with the capacity to collaborate with department heads, division leaders, and families.
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college required.
  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable, with a quick learning ability.
  • Preferred experience with database management systems.

Compensation:
This position offers a competitive salary ranging from $65,000 to $85,000, depending on experience, along with an extensive benefits package including employer-paid medical, vision, dental, long-term disability, and life insurance, as well as a Flexible Spending Account (FSA), commuting subsidies, and professional development
opportunities. Employees receive 12 days of paid sick leave per year, 13 paid holidays, and two weeks of paid vacation, plus an additional week off during mid-winter break in February.

The role also includes a 403(b) retirement plan with a 7% employer match after one year, requiring a 4% employee contribution, with mandatory enrollment after two years.
