Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct an immediate search for an experienced Accounting Assistant (Nonprofit) to join a well-established environmental nonprofit organization! This is a full-time, onsite position in the North Burbank, California area.

The Accounting Assistant (Nonprofit) manages and oversees the organization’s full charge bookkeeping and financial processes. The ideal candidate will have experience in full-charge bookkeeping, proficiency in QuickBooks Online, and a strong knowledge of GAAP accounting principles.   • Full-time work hours from 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday!
  • This role provides medical, dental, vision and voluntary life insurance, an employee assistance plan (EAP), and commuter and transit benefits for those who are working on average 30 or more hours per week while on assignment. An employee retirement plan is also available!

Responsibilities:
  • Manage accounts receivable (AR) and accounts payable (AP) processes, ensuring timely and accurate invoicing, payments, and reconciliations.
  • Oversee all financial transactions, including bank and credit card reconciliations.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with GAAP accounting principles.
  • Process payroll and prepare related reports as required.
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide financial data and assist in budgeting and decision-making.
  • Assist with year-end financial closing and preparation of financial statements for auditors.
  • Respond to financial inquiries from staff, vendors, and external parties.

Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of experience in full-charge bookkeeping or a similar accounting role.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Shopify, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting principles.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive financial information with confidentiality.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation & Additional Details:
This full-time position offers a starting hourly pay of $27 - $31/hr. In addition, this role offers medical, dental, vision, and voluntary life insurance, an employee assistance plan (EAP), and commuter and transit benefits for those who are working on average 30 or more hours per week. An employee retirement plan is also available.
