Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct an immediate search for a Director of Labor Relations & Communications on behalf of our client, a highly regarded nonprofit organization Danville, California. This is a full-time, hybrid, direct-hire, opportunity with benefits!
POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting directly to the CEO, the Director will oversee all aspects of labor relations and communications for a dynamic family of trade associations. Representing contractors, this umbrella organization works collaboratively to foster a healthier, more successful industry while strengthening the region’s construction landscape. This pivotal role is based in the San Francisco Bay Area and offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact.
Responsibilities:
•Build and maintain strong relationships with active members while engaging non-active members through personalized outreach and onsite visits.
•Onboard new signatory companies by integrating them into association systems (e.g., databases, websites, and communication platforms) and providing a welcoming first point of contact.
•Represent affiliated trade associations in designated committee meetings, collaborating with association leadership, membership, and industry partners as needed.
•Investigate and address grievances between management and labor, ensuring timely resolution.
•Create and distribute membership service packages and labor relations reports to inform and educate current and prospective members.
• Guide members on educational and training opportunities tailored to industry and contractor needs.
•Maintain an organized labor and economic data database to support collective bargaining efforts.
•Conduct research and compile materials for labor negotiations, including economic and industry data, membership feedback, and coordination with the appropriate committee.
•Support the negotiation process by managing proposal tracking, document updates, and contractor communications and coordinating with legal counsel when necessary.
•Perform market research to identify contractor bid opportunities and share insights with members in collaboration with industry partners.
•Lead the organization’s government affairs and political advocacy initiatives, including legislative efforts, lobbying, coalition building, and public relations.
•Oversee all association communications, including newsletters, by curating content, drafting articles, and managing publishing and distribution.
•Manage social media strategies and maintain websites to enhance branding, educate stakeholders, and promote the associations and their affiliated organizations.
Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in Management, Business Administration, Business Communication, or a related field.
•Familiarity with the construction and finishing industries, particularly in a unionized environment.
•Proficiency in analyzing labor markets, economic trends, and related data to inform decision-making.
•Availability for limited travel and occasional evening meetings as needed.
Compensation and Benefits:
Salary range of $130,000-$150,000 plus a comprehensive benefits package!
