Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Nonprofit Senior Accountant on behalf of our client, an established behavioral health organization in Chicago, IL. This is a direct-hire, on-site position available for immediate hire!

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and review financial statements (monthly, quarterly, annual) for accuracy and compliance with nonprofit standards (GAAP).
  • Manage the general ledger, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close.
  • Help prepare the annual budget, track expenses and revenue, and provide variance analysis to management.
  • Handle accounting for restricted funds, grants, and donations, ensuring compliance and preparing related reports.
  • Lead audit preparation and ensure compliance with nonprofit regulations.
  • Ensure effective internal controls and identify financial risks.
  • Work with the VP of Finance and other departments on financial planning and reporting.
  • Collaborate with outside accountants to file tax returns and required nonprofit reports.
  • Generate financial reports from the accounting system.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
  • Previous accounting experience in a nonprofit setting.
  • Strong understanding of nonprofit accounting principles (GAAP), regulations, and financial reporting standards.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (Fund EZ, Sage Intacct, or similar) and advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, financial modeling).
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities, with excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to present complex financial information clearly and effectively, both in writing and verbally.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team, managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation: 
This position offers an annual salary between $90,000-$100,000, along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision coverage; life insurance; short- and long-term disability; FSA and HSA options; and generous paid time off (PTO).
