Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for an Adaptive Daily Living (ADL) Instructor for a highly respected nonprofit organization providing essential services to individuals with vision loss. This is an onsite position with travel required across Santa Cruz, San Benito, and South Santa Clara Counties. The role offers full-time, part-time, or contract options based on candidate availability.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Our client is seeking a compassionate and eager-to-learn Adaptive Daily Living (ADL) Instructor to empower individuals with vision loss to live safely and independently. This role focuses on providing in-home services, assessing client needs, and recommending adaptive techniques and tools to enhance safety and navigation in their living environments. No prior experience in vision rehabilitation is required, as comprehensive training will be provided.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assess client homes and recommend safety modifications and organizational strategies.

Conduct lighting evaluations to enhance visibility and accessibility.

Teach clients adaptive skills for organizing household items, cooking, and medication management.

Introduce assistive devices and techniques to promote independent living.

Educate family members and caregivers on supporting client independence.

Maintain accurate client documentation and stay engaged in ongoing professional development.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Compassionate and empathetic with a desire to support individuals adjusting to vision loss.

Eager to learn and comfortable receiving specialized training in adaptive living skills.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and trust with clients.

Detail-oriented with proficiency in documenting client progress accurately.

Reliable transportation and willingness to travel within Santa Cruz, San Benito, and South Santa Clara Counties.
Preferred (but not required):

Experience in rehabilitation, education, or healthcare settings.

Background in working with individuals with disabilities or seniors.

AA/AS or BA/BS in a related field such as Special Education, Occupational Therapy, Nursing, Psychology, or Sociology.
