Operating with a mission to foster understanding, compassion, and inclusivity, this nonprofit organization seeks an Executive Speech Writer to join their dynamic team. This pivotal role will be instrumental in articulating the vision and ideas of the CEO and executive team to various key stakeholders through executive speechwriting and social media engagement. The Specialist will collaborate closely with the Executive Communications Manager and the CEO to craft compelling narratives that highlight the organization's impactful work in areas such as refugee resettlement, asylum seeker protection, and other related areas.

Based on the East Coast but offering remote flexibility, this role presents a unique opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of individuals and families seeking refuge in the United States. The successful candidate will have a passion for storytelling, exceptional writing skills, and a deep commitment to advancing the mission of the organization.


RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manage speechwriting and communication development for the CEO, including drafting content and coordinating with senior leadership.
  • Draft speeches and talking points for the CEO to effectively communicate the organization's work and impact to various audiences.
  • Lead messaging preparation for Board and President's Council Meetings in collaboration with senior staff.
  • Conduct research on topics, audience demographics, and industry trends to inform content development.
  • Collaborate with executives and stakeholders to understand objectives and preferences.
  • Develop and implement a social media strategy for the CEO aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Monitor and analyze social media metrics in coordination with the social media team.
  • Coordinate with colleagues to gather updated information and impactful stories for CEO communications.
  • Spearhead messaging preparation for Board and President's Council meetings.
  • Contribute to the CEO's thought leadership strategy.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in writing speeches, op-eds, and strategic materials for senior executives.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field is preferred.
  • Ability to adapt to an executive's voice and style and apply it across various communication channels.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and social media skills.
  • Knowledge of online marketing communication strategies, digital trends, and technologies.
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and collaborative with the ability to manage multiple deadlines, including last-minute requests.
  • Commitment to organization's values, mission, and empowering refugees.
  • Flexibility for occasional off-hours work.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The Executive Speech Writer Specialist role offers a competitive salary range of $75,000 to $82,000, depending on experience. The position includes a comprehensive benefits package covering medical, dental, and vision insurance available from the first day of employment. Professional development opportunities and tuition reimbursement are provided. Additionally, employees enjoy generous paid time off, including 20 days of vacation, 12 days of sick leave, and 12 paid holidays. The role also includes 12 weeks of fully paid parental leave and up to 12 weeks of fully paid FMLA leave. For long-term financial security, the company offers a 403(b) contribution of 3%, along with an additional 7% match that vests immediately. Family building benefits, including support for reproductive procedures and adoption/foster care assistance, are available.
