Scion Executive Search has been engaged to find the next Head of Finance for our client, a faith-based organization located near Weirton, West Virginia. Requiring visionary and innovative leadership, this senior-level position will partner closely with the executive management team. The role is vital not only for enhancing the organization’s financial strength but also for shaping and driving improvements, effectiveness, and efficiency. This full-time, on-site leadership opportunity is available for immediate hire.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop, refine, and continuously elevate the organization’s business model. 
  • Craft a strategic vision for finance and administration that aligns with the mission, maximizes stakeholder value, and ensures long-term sustainability.
  • Provide financial leadership that drives the organization’s overall strategy and operational objectives. 
  • Leverage a broad business perspective to influence meaningful change and optimize the deployment of financial resources.
  • Develop and execute growth strategies to drive new and enhanced revenue streams while optimizing efficiency and expanding the organization’s impact. 
  • Lead and engage in acquisition and expansion initiatives that align with overall business objectives, strategic plans, and projects.
  • Develop and present clear, transparent, and impactful reports and communications that engage stakeholders, promote informed decision-making, and effectively advocate for change.
  • Analyze, assess, and advise on the financial implications and returns of proposed decisions, policies, and strategies. 
  • Offer strategic recommendations to enhance financial performance and capitalize on business opportunities. 
  • Translate strategic and tactical plans into comprehensive financial plans, while continuously evaluating financial objectives.
  • Develop departmental policies and organizational structure while providing leadership and management for the team.
  • Design, implement, and maintain efficient, transparent budgeting and forecasting processes, systems, and tools to ensure a balanced budget. 
  • Deliver timely and accurate financial reporting, analysis, and management reports that highlight financial results, trends, and forecasts.
  • Execute strategies to enhance the organization’s investment management decisions and activities while overseeing accounting, banking services, and lender relationships.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 10+ years of accounting and finance experience, including at least five years in senior-level financial management roles, demonstrating a proven ability to lead strategically and tactically.
  • Fully supports and champions the organization’s mission, fostering an environment that upholds and advances its values. 
  • Bachelor’s degree required; CPA and/or Master’s degree in a related discipline preferred.
  • Proven experience in enhancing, modernizing, and transforming finance and accounting functions, processes, organizational structures, and overall impact, while effectively driving change across the organization.
  • Skilled in developing and implementing reporting and feedback systems to track progress and make necessary adjustments for success.
  • Adept at clearly defining expectations for outcomes and milestones and holding team members accountable for results. 
  • Familiarity providing mentorship; supports the professional development of team members to ensure their growth and success.
  • Trained in defining, evaluating, and continuously improving operational and financial productivity measures. 
  • Knowledgeable in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook) and financial reporting software.
  • Proficiency in financial planning and analysis, critical thinking, and performing cost-benefit evaluations to drive informed decision-making and operational improvements.
  • Proven experience in Fund Accounting, including managing financial transactions, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
 
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Along with a competitive annual salary ranging from $180,000 to $200,000, the position includes a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, life, and disability insurance, as well as paid vacation time and holidays.
