Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for an Legal Billing Specialist on behalf of our esteemed client, a leading legal services firm. This is a full-time, hybrid position in Chicago, IL offering the opportunity to support a dynamic organization with a strong reputation in its industry!

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in billing operations, particularly within a professional services or law firm environment. They will be highly detail-oriented, possess strong analytical skills, and be proficient in managing complex billing arrangements. A successful candidate will be a proactive problem solver with excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with attorneys, finance teams, and clients.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Oversee daily billing operations, including invoice preparation, time entry adjustments, rate updates, and customized reporting.
  • Ensure timely and accurate invoice processing, proactively addressing discrepancies and securing necessary approvals.
  • Interpret and enforce client billing policies, fee structures, and compliance guidelines.
  • Manage electronic invoicing (EDI) with precision and efficiency.
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy and organization while handling multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
  • Communicate professionally and confidentially with internal teams, vendors, and clients, delivering exceptional service.
  • Partner with finance, billing, and other departments to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.
  • Support leadership with special projects, including system enhancements, policy updates, and process improvements.
  • Mentor and train new and junior billing team members, optimizing workflow and best practices.
  • Oversee billing for complex client accounts, providing strategic guidance on intricate invoicing structures.
  • Maintain financial records, reconciliations, and reporting accuracy.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Expertise in billing systems, including 3E and E-billing platforms.
  • At least three years of billing experience, preferably in a professional services environment.
  • Proven ability to manage complex billing structures while ensuring accuracy and client satisfaction.
  • Strong process improvement skills with a focus on efficiency and best practices.
  • Experience collaborating with team members and supporting leadership on special projects.
